Sound familiar? Those psycho Nigerian scam groups got your email address. So, now you're on the warpath to find out who sent you the email, and how the heck did they get your address anyway?
A word of caution: When you are sent an email forward and you opt to send it to your best buds, your email address has now come to be fair game to all who will continue to receive the email that you, your friends, your uncle sent on for a good laugh. In the header section of the email it shows everyone's email address that the forward was sent to. This is bad news if it gets into the wrong hands of person who is trying to stockpile innocent people's addresses. I would suggest setting up a new email account for junk mail (things you sign up for on the 'net,) and friends and forwards. This should greatly cut down on unwanted emails.

What about when it comes to email? Many people think they are anonymous when it comes to the internet in general and email in particular. Are they right? Can they hide or can you find the owner of an email address?
When you want to find the owner of an email address, you have a few options. Some will give you more facts than others. The first thing that you can do is to run a reverse Ip address search. An Ip address is given to your computer when you associate it with an internet service supplier (Isp), so it can impart with the network. To find the Ip address of an email sender, click on the message to open it. On the page, you should see the selection for "Full Header" or "View." choose full header. You can find the Ip address there. It is a numerical code that should look like this: 00.11.333.444.
